Through
Parent-Child Participation courses begin in September and

Parenting the Infant |
For parents with babies, newborn
to twelve months, will cover body fitness exercises,
relaxation techniques, growth and development. Parents
will enter parenthood with confidence and good parenting
skills. New parents will learn to relax and enjoy
their new role. Babies will happily reap the loving
benefits. |

Parenting the Toddler |
Parents of toddlers, 12 to 24
months old, will discuss their child's physical and social
development and how it affects changes during this important
year when a baby become a unique individual. Toddlers
will have a chance to explore, learn, imitate and interact
with other toddlers and adults. |

Parenting the Two Year Old |
Parents of the two-year olds will participate in activities
designed to promote positive learning experiences.
This course will encourage the understanding of the ages and
stages of normal growth and development. Topics of
discussion include discipline, sharing, weaning, toilet
training, language development and sleeping habits. |
|
Parenting the Pre-Schooler |
Pre-schoolers will share enrichment activities including are
and music. Adult discussion will cover physical/social
development and how it causes changes in the behavior of
children. Children will have the opportunity to explore,
learn, imitate and interact with other children |
|
Focus on Art |
This parent
and child class (2 to 5 yr olds) will provide shared
experiences in art, music, movement, education and creative
self-expression. Includes multi-media art projects,
interactive songs, large and small motor activities, and
opportunities for creative self-expression. |

Focus on Music |
Parents will learn how to use
music, simple rhythm and basic skills to teach their
children self-awareness and world-awareness.
Enjoy exploring holidays, changing seasons, vocabulary and
social skills as you interact with your child in this fun
and interesting manner. Parents will learn to increase
children's attention span and assist in helping their child
follow group directions through music. Check the current
brochure for age-group of specific classes. |

Home Economics |
|
|
Sewing Basic |
Provides
instruction for students to work on individual projects at
their own level of ability. Under direction of the
instructor, improve your skills in sewing, fitting, pattern
and garment alterations. Learn to sew family clothing,
decorative home furnishings and gifts for special occasions.
New students (for the day class) should bring fabric and a
pattern to the first class meeting. New students (for
the evening class) should bring shears, pins, thread and 1
yard of woven fabric to the first class meeting.
Beginners welcome. |

Sewing Intermediate |
Provides
instruction for intermediate students to work on individual
projects at their own level of ability. Under the
direction of the instructor, students will expand their
sewing skills, the use of the sewing machine and
attachments, fittings, pattern and garment alterations.
Learn to sew more intricate family clothing and be creative
with different fabrics, colors and textures. |

Knitting & Crochet & Embroidery |
In this
class, beginning and advanced students can learn different
basic or complex techniques in crochet, knitting,
needlepoint, cross stitch, hardanger work, linen and
Brazilian embroidery. Students may advance to create
more complex pattern pattern stitches for sweaters and
afghans. They will learn how to design and chart
sweaters in different sizes and styles. |

Quilting |
This course
is designed for students to learn basic skills as related to
art of quilting. Students will expand their knowledge
in selecting appropriate materials, patterns, designs and
techniques. |

Health, Nutrition & Safety |
|
|
Interval Training/ Aerobics |
Instruction
and demonstration in the best exercise methods to burn fat
for men & women. Interval training is a combination of
low impact aerobics alternated with weight lifting (3-5 lbs)
for specific muscle groups. Stretching period to relax
muscles and mind. |
|
Resistance Training |
Resistance training uses
instruction, demonstration, and hand weights to build muscle
and bone strength, as well as speeds up metabolism and
promotes bone density. Perfect compliment to your own
aerobic program. Bring a mat and 3-5 pound hand
weights. Wear loose clothing and exercise shoes. |
|
Yoga for Physical Fitness |
Hatha,
including instruction in weight control, conditioning,
breathing and relaxing techniques, is the basis of this
non-recreational course for all ages. |
|
Yoga Easy Intermediate |
Students
with previous yoga experience will receive instruction to
improve their technique in familiar exercises and lengthen
the "hold-time" of yoga positions. Several new and
challenging movements will be introduced. |

Home Arts and Crafts |
|

Handweaving & Spinning |
Learn
to make one-of-a-kind scarf or fabric, that heirloom table
linen, coverlet, or rug. All levels welcome. |
|
Knitting & Crochet |
Beginners will learn the basic techniques and stitches of
knitting or crochet. Advanced students will work on
their own projects, like sweaters, cardigans and blankets.
More advanced patters will be introduced. Learn to
chart and design a project. Beginners will be lent
supplies for the first class meeting. |
