Policies and Procedures
Community Education Class fees listed in this brochure are determined by length of class and an estimated number of enrolled students. The estimated enrollment is based on an average of students attending the class in past terms. Community education class fees pay for teachers salaries, use of facilities, operations, and overall clerical and administrative support. Information provided and opinions expressed by instructors are their own and do not necessarily reflect those of the members of the Board of Education, district administration and/or adult school administrators.
Mandated classes are financed by the State of California. Fees may
be charged for some classes.
All classes are open to adults 18 years of age and older.
Additional Fees for materials or service fees (listed in class
description) are needed in some classes for handouts, food,
instructional assistants, and maintenance of equipment. Some
courses require textbooks, tools or supplies. All community
education classes include a small general material fee.
Students 62 years of age or older qualify for a discount on registration fees. No senior discount on materials. Proof of age may be requested.

Torrance Adult School makes every effort to accommodate the needs of students with disabilities. Please contact any of our school offices two weeks prior to the beginning of class to request special accommodations and to provide recent documentation of the disability. Because community education (self-sustaining) classes receive no state funding support, they must be financially self-supporting. Therefore, in community education (self-sustaining) classes Torrance Adult School reserves the right to deny special accommodations that are costly. Please contact an administrator at any of the Torrance Adult School campuses for assistance. There are no tuition or material fee reductions for students with disabilities.
