For Career Education classes, students must be at least 18 years of age

Children are not allowed to attend any of the career classes for any reason.

You do not need to have a GED or High School diploma to attend many of our classes.

To become registered and/or certified in most Allied Health occupations you will be required to show that you do have either a GED or High School diploma.

You can work on your GED / High School diploma concurrently with a Career Education class
depending on your reading skill level.
Can I enroll in multiple classes?
Yes you can enroll in as many classes as you wish to, however if you have not been in school for awhile and you have family commitments, you may want to limit the number of classes you take in a term.
In the area of computer skills classes, TAS suggests that your first class should be the keyboarding class. Learning to type on the keyboard will make completion of other computer class assignments go much faster.
Will I have homework in my classes?
Some classes, such at the Medical/Allied Health classes do require homework because they are concentrated courses.
Accounting/Bookkeeping classes have workbooks and work can be done at home, helping you complete the course more quickly, however you may choose to do all the work in class.
Study time between classes or practice of skill learned will make the learning experience go more quickly and you will remember topics and procedures more quickly.
Do I have to attend class regularly ?
Yes. Many of our Career Technical Education classes give students TAS certificates of completion and these certificates require completion and demonstration of mastery of the content taught in the course. We also require 80% attendance. to be eligible for these certificates. All quizzes, tests and projects must be done in class.
How do I know what class to take?

get a description of what will be covered in the class. Call one of our
school sites for additional information.
There are flyers in the offices for some of the Career Education classes and more will be available in the next few weeks.
Each person should determine what kind of work interests them and then determine which courses will help you achieve that "dream job."
Not all TAS students are seeking employment at this time, but may want to use skills they learn in a volunteer area or improve their own skills for personal use or to understand what new technology consists of and how to use it...you are welcome as well at TAS.
How do I contact my teacher?
Career Technical Education teachers all have an email address: first initial, last name (all lower case with no spaces @tastusd.org. Our teachers are available by email to receive messages and answer questions on the course content and assignments.
